MERGE STORY: “A Legacy Written, Sung, and Lived”
Author Elizabeth Motes
Founder of Time With Jesus Ministries | Author | Singer | Speaker
For more than six decades, Author Elizabeth Motes has merged music, ministry, family, and writing into one life of service.
Her ministry journey has included 15 years as a pastor’s wife and more than 40 years of traveling in ministry.
While raising and homeschooling her children, she also taught Sunday school, led choirs, served as music director in two churches, and ministered as a speaker and soloist.
Elizabeth organized The Motes Trio, composed of herself and her two children. The group sang during nightly church services while evangelizing alongside her husband of 62 years, Rev. Richard W. Motes, Sr. They continued singing as a group until both children were grown, married, and ministering on their own. She also recorded a solo LP album in 1974 and a second album in 1998.
Around 1995, Elizabeth founded Time With Jesus Ministries with only two women. Six years later, she was mailing approximately 200 newsletters each month. She eventually stopped publishing the newsletter to write her first book, It Happened on the Way to Heaven. She has now written and published 13 books and is working on her 14th.
Her books, songs, and ministry continue to reflect a lifetime devoted to inspiring others through the gifts God placed within her.
Time With Jesus Ministries continues today as a powerful ministry that spotlights her entire family and the legacy she and her husband have built together.
THE MERGE INTERVIEW
MERGE: What has been your greatest victory in merging music, ministry, and the marketplace?
“My greatest victory in my writing and singing ministry is when people tell me they are inspired by the words, books, singing, or speaking. I can easily sell my products because I know God’s anointing is upon all of it.”
MERGE: What has been your greatest challenge?
“I am challenged by time. Finding enough time and quietness is a challenge for me. Another challenge is keeping books in stock, which is a good problem to have.”
A WRITING LEGACY
Author Elizabeth Motes’s legacy is found in the lives she has inspired through her books, music, speaking, and faithful years of ministry.
From two women receiving a newsletter to hundreds of monthly readers, and now 13 published books; her story demonstrates what can happen when a person remains faithful to the work God has given them.
Her words have traveled through churches, homes, newsletters, books, and songs. As she works on her 14th book, her written legacy continues.
